Our Story
How often have you fallen ill after travelling? Whether it’s a daily commute on public transport or a once-in-a-lifetime trip to a far-off destination, most of us have been there. Sometimes it’s just a cold. Other times, it’s something far more serious. Enclosed spaces, shared surfaces, and close contact with strangers make travel one of the easiest ways for germs to spread.
Our first trip to Australia felt like the adventure of a lifetime. We returned home just days before COVID-19 brought the world to a standstill. It would be another five years before we could journey like that again.
When we finally returned - travelling across Australia and New Zealand - we saw travel differently. We became acutely aware of how often our hands came into contact with shared surfaces: handrails on crowded trains, airport security trays, door handles, touchscreens, and counters in busy tourist hubs. It was a constant reminder of how exposed we all are to germs, whether we’re travelling across the world or just across town.
Hands touch everything!
That awareness sparked an idea.
We set out to create a compact, travel-friendly hand-protective gel that does more than clean - it creates a long-lasting barrier against contaminants. A simple, effective solution designed to help keep people safer while travelling or navigating high-density environments, without slowing them down or interrupting their journey.
Most importantly, it had to be safe. Gentle enough for everyday use, even on the most sensitive skin.
We chose Quokkas to use in our brand name because these irresistible little animals, native to Australia and related to kangaroos and wallabies, are an iconic symbol and a reminder of memories that stay with us.
Quokkas are under threat, so we will be donating a share of our profits to the Rottnest Foundation that helps conserve Rottnest Island where most of the quokkas live.
